Hey, should I trade my mark iv head to a rack mount version of the mark iv so that i can out it my new rack i'm building or just leave and just do a rack for FX ? Thanks !

It's all a matter of your preference, really. The only advantage that I see of putting it in the rack is that you can shorten up some cables running to the effects loop, and you have one less piece to carry around to a gig.

A distinct advantage of keeping it out of the rack is that although now you have 1 more piece to carry, your rack is a lot smaller and lighter.

I'd keep it out if it were me.

When I've had racks, I've always put the head on top of the rack, more because the head fits better on the rack than vice versa. Probably also a good idea in that heat coming from the head might be somewhat blocked by having a rack on top of it.
