Tip to Ground Switches

Hi there. To access the modes on the 2:90 you need a tip to ground switch. Unfortunately I don't have a triaxis.

If I got a lead and joined the two wires inside - the tip and the ground, and plug it in to one of the voices, eg modern - would this a) be safe? and b) activate the voicing.

Obviously there would be no way of switching on or off apart from pulling the jack out or putting the jack in.
