anyone know what Im talking about? the flat-ish little metal pieces that are screwed onto the top of the Mark IV head, on either side of the handle?

what is their purpose?
 
It distributes the weight of the chassis across a much broader surface than screws alone would, and prevents the screws from digging into the wood. For a while Mesa had a sus-4 type mounting used on the MkIV, but that stopped at some point.
 
ahhh i see. thanks guys! always just wondered about that. i thought maybe it was for some sort of protection....against anything that rested on top the head.
