I had a mid 80's Crate combo that sucked monkey balls. I wouldn't trade a Pignose for a "Vintage" Crate. I do like the V series of tube amps that they have now though.

I had a crate 4x12 and one of those little 1200H heads for about a month before going to a Peavey XXX 2x12 combo and i guess it 'looked cool' at the time, but sounded like garbage to be honest... I haven't looked back since going all tube. The response and tone difference was astounding! I should have kept the Peavey instead of losing my ass on it when I sold it for my first Mesa... ANYway, such is life!
