Tapping noise

I'm looking for advice on some technique and I wasn't sure where to post this.

If I'm tapping and moving around the fretboard while doing so, my right hand scrapes some of the lower strings. I'm trying to avoid this scrape sound without losing the ability to mute the other strings. Do you guys have any advice on technique tips? Do you mute the other strings with your left hand? Is there a certain way you hold your arm?

some ppl wrap a bandana or a light small towel around the neck near the nut. of course, this isn't very practical for live situations, more for reducing noises in the studio

I mute the top strings with my the forearm of my tapping hand. It's takes some getting used to but it works like a charm.
