Has anyone ever tried replacing the V30's with t75's in an oversized recto std 412? I was opening for a band last friday and used their cabs. Dude had 2 412's with t75's in them. Holy **** :!: Ive played in this club a gazillion times and this is the best Ive EVER sounded in there. Well, Im convinced this is the direction I want to go with my tone. I thought about selling my recto cabs and picking up some marshalls or mills ot avatar or something with T75's. But it might be an easier and cheaper fix to just swap out V30's for T75's. Or even better yet, the Warehouse HM75's. Anyone ever done this?

Korn used Recto cabs loaded with G12T-75's. I'd keep your cab and swap out the speakers. The Mesa cabs are much better quality than the Marshalls

Another forumite recommended leaving 2 of the V30's and replacing the other 2 with K100's. What do you think of that combo?

Definitely keep your cabs. The T 75s are great so are the K100s and Hot T100s. It's all a matter of taste. Criscrossing them w/ V30s is great too. In fact I bet if you put one of each of the speakers I mentioned in a 4x12 Mesa Reacto cab you would probably be the greatest guitar player in the world.
The V30s are mid heavy, all the others are mid scooped and in my opinion they chug harder and don't spike like v30s can when your in soloville.

I've actually really been wanting to try this - T75's don't appeal to me, but Jens Bogren used a Dual Rec through the Marshall Mode Four Oversized Cab with K100's for the tones on Opeth's "Ghost Reveries", which I really dig, a great crunch IMO!

A swap is a great idea. You can probably get more money for the v30s. Another option is to buy a 1960lead marshall cab used and swap the speakers with your mesa cab. Then you can fix up the Marshall cab if necessary and sell it as a 1960vintage marshall cab. The advantage is that the 1960lead cabs are everywhere and the 1960vintage cabs usually go for more money. If you can find a nameplate on ebay, you can even swap the 1960a for a 1960vintage one just for the sake of authenticity.

Personally, I'd be more inclined to try a G12T - 75 and v30 speaker combo in my cab if I was you. I find blending speakers can yield some amazingly pleasing results.
