Studio pre early revision? (#1 on ebay)

Never seen one like this before, I was wondering if anyone else has/owns one, just out of curiosity.
Note the silver dome level knobs (possibly replaced) and the lack of front inputs.
Anyone got any idea what it says on the left where the inputs went later?
Shame there's no pictures of the back or the circuitry.

would even be nice to see that it's serial #1 as listed. you'd think that MB would be the owner.

What does the text down the left side where the inputs should be say? I can't quite make it out.

To be quite frank, no front inputs on a rackmount piece is a terrible awful idea.

I guess if it were really serial #1, if he showed that from the back, then somebody would pay that price. If I had the cash, and it was a legit serial number 1, I'd buy it.

he emailed me the pics right before it ended....man WAS IT CLEAN...THE NUMBER WAS SP001
