My clean channel on the studio sounds really fizzy with volume changes and some popping... the popping almost sounds like the lead channel is kicking back in or something for a second on top of the clean. Also, when switching from lead to clean, it doesn't change immediately. It gradually changes over a few seconds. The lead channel seems ok, but it may be hidden under all of that gain.

Has anyone experienced this before? I just changed the tubes, so I don't think that its the tubes unless one of them is bad, and I'm not sure which one (position) would be the culprit.

Any Ideas?

If it just started after you changed tubes, then you may have a bad tube...they can be bad even though they're new. I suggest swapping them out with the old ones, one position at a time and see if that helps.

Could be tube related but more than likely the some of the devices that do your channel switching (LDR's) are going bad. These are not replacable by the user and need good soldering skill to replace. If you are in the US then you might just want to ship the Pre to boogie for a checkup.

The Studio Pre I have is very clean, warm, and flexible. Studio Pre is very popular with pedal steel guitarists for that reason. They seek Clean with high power systems to push those crazy bass voicings out of the speaker without breakup. Especially when using the C6th tuning.
