SRV tone, suggestions

I apologized in advance if this question has been asked many times, I used the search feature but it did not give me usable results.

I’m looking for any members who might have stumbled across the SRV tone for either the LLS, or LLC 1x12. I have a Tom Anderson Classic with the vintage PU, which gives close to his tone; I have used some of the examples in the book, good, but wondered if there was better.

This might be way off in a lot of people's minds, and this is not the way that Stevie did it, but it works for me. I'm running a keeley compressor in front of the amp. This allows me to roll my guitars volume knob back but retain the perceived volume of the guitar. When I do this on channel 2 I still get the grit from the gain/drive but with all of the chime and sparkle you'd want. Give it a shot if you've got a compressor.
