i just got an older Eminence black shadow, 150w & i want to use it w/a C90, but the Eminence has no polarity stamp near the leads. How can i be sure i don't wire these speakers out of phase?

Any help appreciated,

thnx

Take a 9 volt battery and apply it to the speaker terminals. Note which terminal is connected to the plus side of the battery when the speaker moves outward. This will be the forward phase of the speaker.

Double check this with the other speaker and you'll have discovered the hot terminal connections of both speakers.

Thank you. That makes sense. Since the battery is DC, will the speaker simply move out & then stop?

9 volt's won't hurt the speakers will it?

very cool tip.

thnx.

Yep... it just moves out with a positive polarity and in for a negative polarity.

I used to work at a pro-audio rental company and we used to check the speaker phase all the time with this method... no issues what so ever.

I have the same driver setup in my 4x12 halfback and I really like it.
Nice blend of tones.

You have a 2x12 setup I assume?

Great advice on using the 9 voly battery as a tester.

You only hit it with the battery long enough to tell which way it moves. It won't hurt it doing this.
