Just bought a Mark V head and picked up a used lonestar 2x12 cab off ebay that is in excellent condition. The cab has 2ea vintage 30's in it instead of the normal C-90's which is what interested me in this cab and it being lighter than a recto cab. The part they did not mention was that the cab is wired so each speaker is independant of each other and could be used as a stereo cab, was ordered that way from Mesa. The speakers are 8 ohm each. So now I have a cab that I thought would be rated at 120 watts 8 ohm, instead it is really 60 watts 8 ohm with the way it is wired so with the Mark V being 90 watts I have some concerns. Thought about rewiring so it they speakers are in series or parallel but it will change it to a 16 ohm or 4 ohm cab. Does anyone know what happens to the tone of a cab if changed, does a 4 ohm cab sound brighter and 16 ohm sound darker? I did rewire it last night so it was 16 ohm but did not like the sound change so wired it back to its original. Any thoughts?

You could plug each speaker into a four-ohm jack on the Mark V (Page 43 of the manual). This will be normal. Each speaker will be handling about 45 watts at full power. Remember to use speaker cables, not guitar cables.
Hope this helps :D
