Spare tube on Mark IV. Is this normal?

Hi,

I recently cleaned my Mark IV Short Head up a bit and when I took off the faceplate there was a 12ax7 TAPED to the wood chassis baffle board as a spare.

Is this normal or did I just get an easter egg? It's a 2002.

Yup! Normal! Just got a brand new combo last week and when I was poking around I was pleasantly surprised to see the same thing. Looking from the rear of the amp there's a little bracket on the left with the tube in it and a piece of masking tape covering it right?!! 8)

Yea me too, just got it mine a few weeks ago! Best desicion I have ever made.
