I just sold my Ampeg VL-501 this weekend and though I am sorry to see it go I am glad that the new owner loves it. Even his bandmates love it. That amp is an excellent amp for those looking for a Marshall and a little more. The cleans are good and there is articulation even in the gain. If I didn't already have a couple Marshalls then I would certainly buy another VL series amp. Too bad they don't make them anymore. Other similar amps are Metaltronix and Lee Jackson Amplification.

A 2 ch. Dual Rec. small logo deal is in progress.

I just went to see my DR and make my deposit last night. That thing is nice. It is coming with a traditional slant loaded with the V30's. The head is loaded with NOS Phillips power tubes and has JJ's in the preamp. It was too late to fire it up but I am anxious to get it home to hear it. Funny thing is that the guy lives close enough to hear it if he cranked it at in fornt of his house and I stood outside of my house. I am glad that I won't have to worry about shipping the thing. I guess good things come to those who wait. It is a small logo I am guessing 93? I tried to remember the SN but it is either in the 3700's 0r 3400's. The cord is attached and it looks and feels like the leather to me. When I get it home, I will open her up to see the revision # and the production/build date. I can't wait. I have been jonesing for one for a while now. Now it is just a matter of a few more hundred $'s.
