Hello!

My Dual Rectifiers fuse broke down a couple of months ago, so i replaced it.
But after the fuse-problem i have started to notice that the sound of the amp has changed.
It's not as well sounding as it was before the fuse blew..
And the distortion on channel 2 sounds like it's "clean"
And channel 3's distortion sounds very poor..
I've changed all the "regular" tubes..
But as you can see in the picture, they don't seem to light up as much as they should do?
Especially not the rectifier tubes..
There's also seems to be some kind of "clicking" sound coming from the tubes?
They amp has gotten louder when I'm not playing as well, lots of buzzing..:(

This is really annoying so i hope you guys can help me!

Thanks in advance // Swedish Punk-guy

The fuse is for the power supply. If all the signal tubes are affected, it's likely a problem with power. If a non-tube part in the power supply is faulty, it would need to be serviced by a qualified tech.

Have you tried spongy and both rectifier settings? Have you tried a wall outlet on a completely different breaker or a different surge protector? Were the tube rectifiers replaced? Why are two of those power tubes taller?

The fuse shouldn't go bad unless something else in the amp has gone bad. The fuse just protects the other components in the amp (and keeps it from catching fire). Get it checked, likely an internal component has gone bad.

Hello!

I bet you have a problem either the output transformer or in the power supply section in the amp.

What do you mean by "regular tubes"? You cannot judge a tube's condition by it's heater glow. It is normal for the rectifiers the have less visible glow.

Have you changed any of the preamp tubes (12AX7)? My money is on V1.

If the fuse has not blown again than most likely the amp is fine, and you are dealing with a tube issue.

Your amp contains three types of tubes, the preamp (dual triode)/small signal 12AX7 tubes, the output (power pentode) 6L6GC tubes, & the rectifier (diode) 5U4G/GB tubes.

Which have you changed?

You may have burned up a capacitor or some other electrical component. I blew a tube at a show once and even after replacing it the channel sounded really horrible. I took it to a shop that fixed it and I think it was a capacitor that burned up in mine at the time and that was causing all sorts of hell on my attempting to get anything that sounded even remotely decent. Its worth checking out if you have an honest amp guy. You might be able to pull out the electronics chassis and maybe look for something that looks like it melted or burned to clue in on up but im not real keen on diagnosing the electronics. Hope it all turns out ok for you. Peter
