I was wondering if anyone here may have an idea what may be going on with my amp before I send it out for repair.
The A channels volume pot doesn't turn the volume all the way down, the pot turns the whole way but zero sounds like 4-5 so I either adjust the volume from my pre amp, or I can use channel B which works fine.
Now I don't know if this was related, but from the inside it looks like the previous owner drilled a small hole in the back of the A input jack.I think one of the pins in there got stuck and that was the only way to unstick it without replacing the whole jack.I think it's coincidental that it is also on the A channel.
Does it sound like a bad volume pot, or might it be worse?,I forgot all about this problem up until I was cleaning out the dust in my rack and figured I'd plug into input A.I had the volume on 0, pres on 10 as stated in manual for unused chan, but since 0 is more like 4-5 how do I know if I did any damage to transformer or something else?.
For now I'll keep it plugged into A and use the preamps volume to adjust, but I think I want to get it fixed. Are Mesa approved repair shops as good at repairs or is it worth it to send it back to Mesa for a good once over?.I've got a repair shop 20 mins from here that another poster said came highly recommended, Davidson Electronics in Plainview NY.
Thanks
