Hey guys.

I recently bought a Road King II head.. I've only had it a couple of weeks (and I know I could do with it for a bit longer) but the company I bought it from does a 4 week, no questions exchange service. Today I gave them a call and tomorrow they will be picking up the RK and dropping off a MV head. Man, I really wanted to like to RK more but I couldn't seem to dial out the fizziness. Don't get me wrong it is a great amp.. Just not for me. Im looking for something less aggressive that's alot warmer and smoother sounding, with great sustaining lead tones and no fizz. I was watching this video and it really turned me onto the Mark V:

I feel a bit annoyed with myself, like i'm being way too fussy. But it can't be helped I suppose. I am looking forward to tomorrow though :)

Oh and with the £ difference between the RK and the MV, I was also able to order one of these, I played one back in april and loved the feel, Gotta get rid of those EMG's though:

I have never played a RK before but I can imagine it's a ****** to dial in too. haha The Mark V may give you a fight when trying to dial it in, as well. But be patient with it. As far as that video goes, what a great sound!

My brother has a Terrero. Great guitar. Fantastic neck. He has the EMGs wired for 18 volts as apposed to the factory setup at 9 volts and it sounds really nice. Great guitar for it's price point.

Good luck.

I have a road king 2 and have just recently bought a Mark V. At first i was a little unsure about the Mark V but the more I play it the more I like it. I think all those years of playing a dual rec your ears get used to the tone. Now I'm getting used to the mark v I really love it and I'm seriously considering selling my road king 2. I think you made the right choice. And that was the exact video on you tube that made me wanna buy the mark V.

For the RK you'll need decent volume to get rid of the fizz. I don't think you can go wrong with either amp, or better yet just get both

So I ripped the Mark V out of it's box as soon as I got home from work and wanged it on my 2x12 recto cab. Oh. My. God. It's amazing. Tight, Chunky, Smooth, It's the tone of my dreams. I'm not even joking. I've been on it for an hour and I already know that it is over. The search for my tone is over. It doesn't need any pedals or boosts or more EQ it's all there in the amp, all at reasonable volume levels. I did open it up and crank it for a few minutes and it got even better and another great thing is that the more I dial in, the better it will get! Band practice next week will be amazing. :p

On a side note the delivery man didn't pick up the RK today so there is now about £8000.00 worth of gear in my house

I am one very happy chap. A far as i'm concerned, Randall Smith for the win.

The only thing worrying me now is my Tinnitus.
