my friend si gogin out to buy a shure SM57 today to do sum acoustic recording and so we can record electric guiatrs for band stuff. My cousin has an SM57 as well, and he does mic>sound card directly with no mixer. Ive only heard acoustic recorded thsi waya nd it sounded good. Now, what adapters does my friend(and me, since if it sodus good im gunan get one too) need to go mic>sdound card directly? Anyone have any clips of mic>sound card? Thanks alot.

mic - pre - soundcard.

I use mine with mackie s pre to souncard.

sm57 isnt good for acoustics.
Better condenser mics.
luck

yes a preamp.
There are thousands models and prices.
Tube preamps are better .
Never behringer stuff.
Presonus is really good.

ah ok thank you. is it really neccessary to use the preamp? i mean-will it work without it, or no?

withou a preamp it will be the same thing if you plug your guitar directly in the 2.90 without the triaxis.
With the pre you make your tone.

so basically, if i were to mic my mesa and run cable atright into sound card it will dosun extremly bland right? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ART-Tube-MP-Professional-Mic-PreampProcessor?sku=484020
would sumthgin like this be OK? and i dont think it takes 2 mics does it?
