Hi guys,

I want to have a Rectifier in my stable. My favorite settings on a rectifier are the raw and vintage. The best Rectifier I have ever played was a 1998 rectoverb that was super smooth and chewy. I don't want to spend much and that is why I am leaning toward a single Rectifier. Do they feel and sound like the rectoverb?

Thanks!

They're about the same price used - I like my Rectoverb but I think the Single Rec is great too

I see single rec's going as low as $650. Lowest I have seen a rectoverb is about $800

If you can find a used Mini Rec - Get it.

I played my friend's Rectoverb and it was sooooo smooth and warm! I have never played a Dual Rectifier (I owned three) that was even close to being that smooth and warm. What gives???

They are IDENTICAL amps. The RV is just a single with the reverb circuit populated.

That being said, I have owned both, and preferred the RV by far. The reverb is good, not great, and the tone is all rectifier. I have since upgraded to a Roadster. 8)

Roadster I did not like and hated the Dual Rectifiers I have owned! I loved my friend's Revtoverb but it was way smoother and squishier than I have ever felt or heard from any rectifier!!! What makes it better? Reminded me more of a Bogner.

4 Channels. I just like the tone of the Roadster. Didn't say anything about the Roadster being better.

However, I prefer the RV over the SR because it has Reverb. Otherwise, they are the same amp.

Perhaps your friend was running something other than stock tubes? You can get some pretty milky tones with just tube swaps.
