Ok I 've been looking for a 50 watt tube amp for sometime and now that I'm playing live in a Blues/Rock cover band and mostly do rhythm, back bet,and fill work I'm finding out that the 5:25 is not enough anymore. So my question is I found a good deal on a single rectifier series 2 would this work?

I think it Will work pretty well in vintage mode, with the right settings. Rectos can be used for much more than just metal.

Yeah Vintage mode will be great. I was playing with the Vintage mode on my single rec series II today and it sounds great, really smooth and liquidy distortion, like the polar opposite of the modern channel. But you can make it go from smooth liquid distortion to really gainy mid-range growl.
I like the vintage mode a lot for leads.

Thank you for the replys and now it's time to do some home work on setting then off to try the amp out.

I agree. I dont know why alot of people think of rectos as a metal amp. I think opf it more as a rock amp. When I think of a metal amp, I think of super tight punch and lots of gain. I think of a framus cobra, a deizel herbert, most Engls or even a 5150. The rectos are more than capable of metal and have influneced a decades worth of metal albums. But IMO its not its strength.

**** storm :p

I think its worth mentioning that playing technique has a lot to do with punchiness and tightness, try a higher gauge pick even.
