Hi there, new to the board, just wondering if anybody could help me out with something:
I have a 50-Watt single rec that I bought used a little over a year ago. At the time I foolishly didn't look at what tubes were in it but took the word of the guy who sold the amp to me that they were "new". A couple of weeks ago I noticed that one of the tubes was burned out, and that, although both tubes were the same model number, one was a different length from the other...so this obviously wasn't a matched set.
I swapped them out yesterday and the amp already sounds better, but there is a weird problem with the volume: it's insanely loud, to the point there is this ear-splitting feedback that sounds like it is damaging the speakers when I turn it up anywhere past 1/3. Also when I turn the master all the way down to zero the guitar still comes through at a fairly loud volume.
Just wondering if anybody has had this or something similar happen to them before...any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
