Question 1.
so how bout it? i am thinking of putting 4 EL-34s in CHANNEL 1 of my 2:100 mesa stereo amp and 4- 6L6s in CHANNEL 2? Will this put a strain on my MESA 2:100 and damage it? I want the availability of the EL34s and 6L6s..

Question 2.
I use this 2:100 stereo amp for live gigs.. I also dont want to carry around to 4X12 cabs. How do you protect the 2:100 if you plan on using only Channel 1?
can i just turn off the volume to the other channel 2 if i dont plan on running a cab to its speaker output? RUNNING it this way? will it Damage the Power amp?
Basically is there a method of running through one side of the stereo 2:100 without damaging the other channel if the other channel doesn't have a load going thru it & to its speaker output????

thanks i just want to properly use the 2:100 with one Channel, and with cab, without having to make the mesa 4x12 cab into a stereo cab.

thanks

I'm going to be picking a 2:100 in a few days from someone on Craigslist and he said you can just turn down the volume all the way on the 2nd channel so you don't have to run another cab. Seems kinda sketch though, can anyone verify this?

Turn the volume and presence down to zero. It's covered in the manual somewhere. For safety I also made sure that nothing was plugged into the input of the unused channel.

For the OP, I believe you can do that trick by running the amp in EL34 mode, but if I remember correctly you need a set of 6L6s specifically selected for whatever draw the EL34s have. The dude at Eurotubes can help you with this one.

The fixed bias switch is for all the tubes. I wouldn't mix n match. If you want to do that, get a 2:90 or something that's designed for using different tubes simultaneously (sp?).
