SED Winged =C= 6L6s on the way...

Decided EL34s are not my cup of tea so I ordered a pair of SED 6L6s. They made my Roadster sound more alive and three dimensional. Anyone else notice this difference? I'll have to see if the same is true with my Rectoverb...

I would love to hear what you think of those =C='s. I just popped mesa El34's into my rectoverb, but I would love to get some good 6L6's as well.

Hi MusicMan!

I know you'll dig the SED =C= in the ROV. Much fuller and smoother than the STR-440 when pushed, without the mud of a JJ 6L6 IMO. I had Doug give me a little hotter set last time, getting the bias up into the low 30's. I'm on my second set with my Roadster and will most likely get another set again this spring.

I've had them in the mark iv and found them Sed winged c's to have a little less low end than stock STR 440s. But yes they're definitely more focused sounding.

After having various tube configs from dougs preamp kit, Sed EL 34s, SED Winged C 6L6's, I've gone back to the preamp kit and stock str440's for chugga chugga rhythms.

The EL34's will take away some low mids and give u more upper mid crunch.

I don't have the 6L6 tubes or the Rectoverb anymore! I'm on the Stiletto now and just installed some Tung Sol EL34Bs. Nice tubes!

I just put Winged "C" 6L6's in my Dual Recto and it sounds sooo much fuller. More focused, handles low end better now. The Winged "C" tubes don't glow as bright as the EH 6L6's for some reason, but I have heard you can't judge a tube by it's glow. The best 6L6 I have ever tried.

I agree, these are the best tubes I've tested in my 50/50.
Just depending of their grade, they may need a bias adjustement like mines

Alright, they arrived today. I put them and let them cook for awhile. I have to agree with everyone on this forum. These are sick tubes! Low end more focused and punchy, not flabby and undefined. The mid range really bites now! I have had a few problems getting that sound. The highs cut nicely, and there is more detail in the sound, and the overdrive smoothly. Sweet tubes. What else can I say?
