I'm new to reading schematics and am needing help reading a Mark 1.

Is the vol 1 wiper just connected to the lead of input 1? How would that look on the layout? Right lug to the 220k resistor on input 2 and to the grid of V2, left lug to ground and middle lug to input 1? Is that right?
Also what are those diodes where the cathode resistors should be?
