dear All

Can somebody share his Ch2 Mark I setting with me for Santana Abraxas album sound?

Thanks

Roland

I am also interested in the Channel 2 Mark I setting for the early Santana sound (Abraxas, Lotus, Zebop).

Thanks in advance

Here is an old post from MGW, regarding an early Santana tone with the Mark V.

With my Boogie Mark V, I changed the speaker to an Altec (that makes a big diference) and I changed all the power tubes to Winged 'C' and the V1 Preamp tube is a Low gain Jan Philips with all the others Harm Croyo tubes. Its great now I have a smoother gain over the whole amp and Mk1 channel is rely useable now. Have fun a play music.
Cheers.

P.S. Santana on Mk1 setting Treble about 1 o'clock, mids about 3 to 5 o'clock (play with that one), bass just below 9 o'clock. That's using a Clapton Strat with a bit of Mid Boost on middle pick up/treble pick up.

I had help from Gary Small(Look to the thread the holliest grail Mark II C),which plays in a band which had Graham Lear !!!!

So my Mark II C setting on a EV12L(Not optimal) is

T 1 oclock-Mark II @ 6,25 out of 10 the main key to the tone
M 2 oclock
B 9 o clock
Gain 1 oclock
Presence 9 o clock-->but annother key
Bright switch on

I play that with a PRS Sanatana SE-->but works well with a G&L Legacy also when you boost gain a bit and get a bt mid heavy setting

Constructive coments more then welcomed

Hey Roland, I've got no secrets. My Mk II lead setting areas follows: My pre volumes are all set at 7 and the master volumes are what ever I can get away with volume wise but if I can get them up to 3 I'm happy and it is still screaming loud. I've recently bought a Eminence Maverick and with its attenuation feature I've been having some great luck at keeping the volume down even more but still retaining all those great harmonic overtones.

If I have a secret its this: the middle knob is the most important of the lot. I use it at anywhere from 7-9 for live and sometimes dimed in the studio. Bass on 2-3 and the treble on (all boogies have a great treble sweet spot) on about 6 1/4. The Presence knob is god awful for killing the tone of the Mark II: I keep it at about 1 or 2.

I've had several PRS guitars but I am most happiest with my Santana III. The pickups are the best I've found so far but I think they can still be improved. They have great harmonic overtones. Oh and I set my volume on the guitar at about 7-8 and use the rest of it to sustain notes. I think playing the PRS on full volume all the time reduces your dynamic vocabulary...most guitarists have two volumes: loud and off :D

Oh and the pull switches are all on but the bass knob. I use a couple of reverb units, I'm never happy with any of them totally.

on Mark I I will try the above idea as still I am in the nowhere
