sand off shiny finish

How hard would it be to sand off the shiny finish on a new, glossy strat and put an oil based finish on it like the new charvel custom shop guitars (or the wayne guitars)?

How hard would it be to sand off the shiny finish on a new, glossy strat and put an oil based finish on it like the new charvel custom shop guitars (or the wayne guitars)?

I've done it a couple of times. It's a ton of work. Use a finish stripper you'll kill yourself trying to just sand it.
