I put some stuff on YouTube. The sounds not the greatist (Sony Handycam HDD) so if you have decent speakers on your computer dial the treble back a little.

I'm thrilled with the sounds this thing is cranking out. You folks on the forum are partly responsible for that sound as the settings are a conglomerate of different suggestions.

Is the quality of the recording enough to compare the distortion to a DR or TR? My profile lists all my gear. I run mild delay in front of the amp (again that FX level/volume thing I'm just not up for that yet) Stages V2-5 are tubed with Groove Tubes.

The playing needs a little work and I'm workin on that too! Not sure this forum can help that! :?

It is always difficult to judge a guitar tone by listening to a camera take, but the quality of your recording is better than the great part of similar videos round there. I think you've got a great tone, and you should really record a real audio clip to show all the potential of your amp. Maybe the ROV has a different feeling compared to duals and triples, but the recto brutality is there!
So, how much do you think your tone has improved with the new tubes?

Thank you for your comments! I think the Groove Tubes in the preamp V2-V5 Stage gave it a nice warm feeling that cut throw the Modern settings bite that wasn't there with the stock Mesa's. But the biggest factor I think was the folks that responded to my "Understanding gain" post. I mixed and matched their suggestions and really learned a lot about the amplifier.

I want a DR, or TR (Maybe a RKII). I'm not so sure I need one. For the playing I do; mostly basement, with a once a week excursion to an auditorium. Maybe I'm there with the amp I have now! I've never had an opportunity to really crank a DR or TR in a store. I'm really curious if it would be worth it compared to my ROV.

I travel a lot and I know where the nearest Mesa Dealer is in any given town I'm in. I'll continue to experiment and test drive anything I can get my hands on. Most imortantly I'll continue to read this forum and ask folks like yourself for there advice.

In the meantime I'm saving for a hotplate and a 4x12. You know, just in case! 8)
