How's it going?

I have an opportunity get a Roland JC-55 export model amplifier. It has a 220V transformer, but the seller is including a voltage selector box so that I can set it to 120V. The amp is in great condition, and I am gonna pay $150.00. Is it worth getting into???? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Michael

It's a great little amp if you like clean, clean and more clean.

I used to A/B between a JC-120 a Mark IIB back in the 80's. I played with a buddy who had a JC-55. Nice sounding little amp. Takes effects very well.

GD_NC,

I have actually had several JC amps. I dig them quite a bit. What is your opinion regarding the export transformer? He is including a voltage converter box, I just hope $150.00 is worth it.

Thanks,
Michael

I got a JC-55 and it has the best clean I have ever heard mixed with the fixed chorus very loud for a small amp only have the volume at 9 o'clock and it is very loud.
Alot lighter than a jc-120 that is a monster.

Get a tech to look inside it - you might find that it has a multi-voltage power transformer, in which case you can rewire it for 120V and forget the outboard transformer. I can't remember from the ones I've seen, sorry. They're great little amps though, and much bigger-sounding than you would think for a 2x8". $150 is a steal, even if you can't convert it.
