Rocktron Pro GAP

Hey,
I'm about to pull the trigger on one for $150. Has anyone ever tried a Pro GAP? How is it for Nu-Metal sounds and death metal type lows? I cannot find any gootube videos of the preamp. Just reading HC reviews and everyone says its very versatile and has TONS of gain.

most of the 80/90`s rocktron stuff will have crazy amounts of gain. i had a mAXE for 10 years that was nuclear meltdown in a 1 rack space preamp. there was a progap for sale locally in nice shape for 100 a couple of years ago, so take that into consideration.

Thanks! I did not know that older Rocktron units had lots of gain. Thanks for that info. My biggest gripe is that this is a preamp unit. Which means, I have to buy a power amp and a rack and so on. I wish it was just a solid state head. But again, I could get this, a Mesa 20/20, a 2 space rack and a Boss GT-8 and I'd be set for quite sometime.

yeah i bet a 20/20 or even a peavey classic 50(i think its called) power amp would sound sik!!
i use to run my mAXE into a marshall dsl, and it sounded devistating
