hey guys, just purchased a Roadster used from a guy off ebay (was a mistake he had it tubed with some crappy tubes and it sounded very weak for a mesa)

well anyways, just realzed my reverb doesnt work on the amp, and its a little late to file a claim against this guy on ebay. *grumble*

I have a choice of either sending the amp in for a warrenty repair or looking into getting a new footswitch(heard there were some issues with these).

any ideas? common problems found with the roadster?

thanks for the help!

I would check two things first.

1. Is the reverb tank plugged in? If you follow the wires from the reverb tank they lead to two RCA connectors in the chassis, right behind the Output Tranny. Looking from behind (Roadster Head) this would be all the way to the extreme left edge of the chassis. With a flashlight, look between the Output Tranny and head-shell and you should be able to see them.

2. Try a new 12AX7 tube in V4, that is your reverb driver tube.

Good Luck
Dom

I bought a roadster back in May with no reverb right out of the store. It was a dead preamp tube. The reverb died again a month later (so did another preamp tube). I replaced the v1 preamp tube, but not the v4 yet to get the reverb back yet. Curious how long your replacement tube lasts...

Gents.

Seems I have a similar issue: no reverb. I checked the wires from the reverb tank all the way and they seem connected.
Also tried to change V4 but no change in the rvb area. Bummer!

I also tried to gently (!) smack the amp on the top just to see if I could hear any springs clash, but nooo. (have no idea if this is a spring reverb as you might tell... )

I live in Norway and bought the head used... Should be able to do some trial and error searches on my own though.
Any suggestions?
