Roadster rectifier tubes

Hi all! I just got a Roadster head in house, and I have one question about the rectifier tubes.
Are they supposed to glow or light up?? Mine are dead dark, all the time.

But if I change between tube and diode rectifier I'm quite sure I can hear a change in the sound!

Appreciate any help!

And as you see, this my first post on the forum, but I've been around the forum and read alot!

If you switched to Tube Rectifier and the amp works, the Rectifier tubes are working.

It's really hard to see the filiments in the 5U4GB's. Try checking in a totally dark room.
