Last evening I fired up the Roadster, did the usual "footswitch tap dance", and took it off standby only to discover the footswitch no longer allows me to select channels. It remains on Channel 1 regardless of what I select on the footswitch. I double checked to make sure the channel selection knob was on the footswitch setting, and that the cable was securely plugged into the amp and switch just in case, which they were. I haven't touched the back of the amp in awhile nor have I transported it anywhere that may have jarred or damaged it. None of the channel indicator lights on the amp itself are lit up (including Channel 1), although they continue to light up correctly on the footswitch when I press them. I am still able to manually select the channels using the back of the amp, however, this is somewhat inconvenient. The strange thing is, the other features on the footswitch (reverb, mute, etc.) all still work.

Anyone else had this happen? My first thought was that perhaps one of the pins on the footswitch cable is damaged, however, wouldn't this just kill the ability to select certain channels? My knowledge of how the footswitch works is limited so I may very well be wrong.

Any suggestions anyone has would be much appreciated.

Kind of an old post but I just noticed this too, and I can't really find anything on it. Weird thing is, it still changes the channels but the lights on the amp don't change. I haven't been able to figure it out myself but I am wondering if it is either the cable or something internal. I am just worried is going to end up not even switching the channels like Loser No. 27 describes.

just an update in case anyone cares to know...

I traced this issue back to it being a preamp tube. so you may want to check that out if you have this problem. after messing around with a bunch of NOS tubes the issue would go away and come back depending on what I put in V1 (seemed to be the original mesa 12ax7a and a raytheon 12at7 tube that would do it)...weird

but now everything works fine after temporarily putting in one of the other mesa tubes  ...I am still waiting on a couple NOS tubes for V1 and V6 then i will do a post similar to jdurso's about my experimentation's with the NOS tubes in the roadster (though it seems like I am heading in the same direction as he did and might end up with the exact same set up haha)

if anyone wants an insanely good lead tone that is incredibly rich with harmonics try putting a sylvannia 12at7 short black plate tube in V1...it doesn't sound good for (metal) rhythms but it creates/adds to a really complex harmonic structure which sounds incredible for leads (especially paired with a siemens 12ax7 long plate in V2)...I am keeping that tube around for recording for sure!

UPDATE:

forget that, well it still may be valid for some as one tube can cause many problems, but I ACTUALLY traced it back to having the tuner plugged into 2 jacks instead of just the one that is the only one required
