Hello To All Who Respond

OK so if all goes well I'll be completing my purchase on a new head this weekend the amazing Roadster. Now I must admit I'm totally new to heads and maybe this is a stupid question so sorry if it is but on the foot switch I know it has 4 channels but if I step on say for example channel 1 twice or three times will it cycle through all the different modes for channel one and is each one programmable? OR can I only access 4 different settings at any one time?

Any help or info will be appreciated and thank you again.

I wish it did but no, it will select the channel you step on and the modes (raw, vintage, etc) will only change with the toggle switches.
Congrats on choosing one of Boogie's best amps! :D
Now I must admit I'm totally new to heads
Remember to NEVER power it on unless you have a speaker plugged in.

Good advice from Ryjan regarding the speaker being plugged in. I would say that you should read the manual (maybe twice) before plugging in and and playing it. If you are new to heads, make sure you know the impedance of your cabinet (ohm's) and how to plug it into the back of your head (it's all in the manual). Use a quality speaker cable for the speaker cab and not an instrument cable as they are not the same.

You may know these things but I'd hate to see something bad happen. Feel free to ask questions and don't worry if they seem stupid.

Good advice regarding the cab to be plugged in before powering up ANY tube amp. And as mentioned, speaker cable, NOT instrument cable.

Further, buy some spare preamp tubes and a matched set of power tubes. Preamp tubes don't need to be matched. It's always good to have spares.

Regarding preamp tubes, you need to note which sockets are cathode follower..... some preamp tubes don't work well in those positions and can (will) fail. Here's a post: http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=25102&start=19 (1st post list the Roadster positions you need to be aware of). You can use JJ preamp tubes (readily available) in the V3 and V5 position without worry.

Also, don't forget to switch the bias switch for the type of power tubes you're using (EL34 or 6L6).

For amp settings and general info, read the manual.

If you follow the above advice, you shouldn't have any real problems.

Congrats on a fine amp.

Hey guys thank you for all the help. I will make note of this . . . however the world is not what it used to be I guess as the guy sold it before I could pick it up. And here I thought we had an agreement . . oh well there will be others and I'll snag one of them hehehehe . . I'm on a quest now
