Roadster Effect Loop Problems

I have the 4 channel Roadster Dual Recto. I only use the effects loop on channel 1. I have turned off the loop on the other channels via the rear mini-switches. When I use the amp, the loop does not turn off when I switch from channel 1 to any other channel. I can switch the loop on/off with the footswitch. I tried swapping the footswitch cable, same problem. Of course I have the loop activated in the back, not hard bypassed. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Does leaving the fx loop switch ON (full time) on the footswitch THEN changing channels help?
