Having been researching cabs I discovered that the Roadster 1x12s are ported on the back while the 2x12s aren't..... Having said that, whats the purpose of the port on the back of the 1x12 and why doesn't the 2x12 have it also?

A Bass Reflex (or Vented/Ported) cabinet design is to increase bass response of a given speaker system. the Theile cab is a Bass Reflex design.

It it most likely on the 1 X 12 to help fill in the bottom end where the 2 x 12 has enough speaker area to create a solid bass response on their own.

A ported cab will tend to be boomy, while a sealed cab will tend to be punchy.

Read here for more general info on Bass Reflex cabinet systems:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_reflex
