Hey guys I'm new to the forum and wanted to know some of your favorite settings on a Roadking II. Also, do you guys run any pedals in front of it or not? Thanks a lot!

Welcome

What sound are you trying to achieve and what's your main setup?

My 'Rock' sound goes like this:

Vintage ch3, Diode, Bold

Gain: 12'oclock
Treble: 1'oclock
Mid: 3'oclock
Bass: 9'oclock
Master: 11'oclock

Using a std Les Paul no boost (unless for solos)

Your sound will depend on a multitude of factors: room, volume, rig, if you have a band etc. just dial in with your ears not your eyes... A great sound is always subjective!

I know that tone is a very subjective thing. I was just interested in what other settings boogie users liked to use on their Roadking's. Thanks for the reply!

Anybody else wanna post their favorite settings or advice for great tone? I'm using an MIM strat with a Dirty Fingers at the bridge and a 496r in the neck. I have an orange cab with V30s in it, also.

the advice of dialing in tone with your ears and not your eyes is the best ever. once I adpoted that concept, I found some great tones out of my amps. just remember, there is a reason those knobs go from 1 to 10...... so you can use all that range.

I've had my New Road King for close to a month now... make sure the effects loop volume is on atleast 12 noon. I actually called Mesa for tone advise and seeked out the help of some very cool individuals here. All in all it was very helpful in understanding the tone stack for each channel.
Other than sharing settings though I found reading the manual to be very helpfull... which was the first peice of advice I recieved here on the board... this is one of the best amp manuals I've read and it clearly, accuratly and with excellent detail describes the amp.
The advice I got from Mesa was to start at 12 oclock on everything and move the dials within the 10 and 2 position to get familiar tones... more radical tones are found on more extreem settings. Forinstance if you dial off the treble you will hear more mids and an open uncompressed treble voice thats only available with the treble off or in around 7 - 8 oclock.

Cheers
Craig
