Let me start by saying Im new to mesa-boogie. I've used marshall for all my dirty sounds, and a 6505+ for my leads. I decided to broaden my tonal palette. I guess you could say I had a serious case of "gass" (whatever than means :) But after I've spent about 2 months with both. Im confident in saying that the roadking beats the mark iv in every aspect. The cleans are more bold and colorful, channel two is great for blues. Channel 3 gives me a GREAT JTM like crunch. And channel 4 is amazing. All in all I think the RK has was more versatility and all together has a more colorful tone.

I'm convinced that an orange tastes better than an apple. It is sweeter, less tart, and it has such a nice nip in the flavour. I'm convinced it tastes more full, works well in popsicles and ice cream, tastes great with chocolate and in cheesecake. Ever heard of an apple cheesecake?? Orange juice is thick and yummy, it wakes me up every morning with my eggs and toast.

But dammit, what happens when I want to make apple crisp??

Everything is purely my opinion, and only reflects my playing needs..............

Well, I have a Stiletto and I'm convinced it smokes everything mentioned (so far, anyway) in this thread.
Also it sounds good whether I'm eating Apple pie or drinking Orange juice. :p

But all kidding aside, it does only boil down to one thing: 8)

Well said! :D

Well Im selling my Roadking for a Randall RM100MTS.... I cant chase the rabbit anymore lol Its just that my playing starting taking a backseat to the tweaking of the "king"

Thats what my pedal board is for... but I think my playing technique and the rectifier sound isnt a good fit...

If after 3 years you are still tweaking then one of two things are going on, either you are an idiot when it comes do dialing an amp, but i dont get that vibe from you, or the mesa is just not the amp for you which I bet is the reason.

Honestly, like any recto I remove the loop from the whole chain, set most of my knobs at 12, use the channel masters for volume and pretty much have the sound I want. I use a OD to boost and perfectly happy.
