Road king question

This is my first post here so hi guys.

Last weekend I picked up a Dual Rectifier Road King. I have owned a Stilleto Duece for a year or two and decided to make the jump to a road King.

My question is I can't find any information or photos of my exact amp. The serial number is RK000056 so I'm assuming it's an early road King. The front panel looks like a recto verb not a road King.

I'm loving the dirty tones I'm getting from this amp I haven't had time to dial in the clean channels.

I'm not sure what your actual question is....but if you are wondering about the front panel, the jute grille is the standard option - and this was before a front vent was added. Thanks!

Thanks....I guess I formed my question into a statement.

The front of the amp was throwing me off and I was wondering why it did not have the metal grill like most of the other Road King amps I have seen.

Is there anything different about the earlier build of these amps or would I be better off returning it and looking for a newer one?

Yeah, that's an early run Road King I. Nice and versatile amp.

The main difference to the current Road King II (v2) model is in the clean modes. The RKII uses the Lonestar ciruict for significantly deeper, lusher, and sweeter cleans. Other minor differences in the RKII include better reverb, different Brit mode voicing, two serial loops instead of one serial and one paralle, and the omission of the Pentode/Triode switch. Some people have also experienced that the overall voicing of the RKII is subtly different from the RKI.

Thanks. That makes sense I really haven't found the sweet spot on the clean channels.

I'm going to spend some time this weekend messing around with channels 1 and 2. My goal is to get tones from sparkly clean and progressively getting heavier as I run through the channels.

That is a very early RKI, there were some recalls that Mesa did for free, I would make sure they were performed on the amp because if you did not get one done if I remember right it was possible the amp could catch on fire, maybe authorized boogie could look that up.
