...& I don't mean harmonic distortion, but a ratty, ragged, ugly distortion that sounds kind of "on top" of the clean tone. I know I'm going to have to check & contact clean all my pedalboard connections, but thought I'd see if there is an amp issue that you guys know about. I have checked & cleand both sends & returns & no change. FWIW, the amp has sat unused for a few weeks, but had no issues previously.

Any ideas or constructive suggestions appreciated.

Thanks-in-Advance!

I assume that you have done the obvious checks like the send level etc.?

Have you tried simply placing a patch cable in the FX loop, instead of your pedalboard? If you still get distortion, then it's a problem with your amp (possibly tube). If not, it's an issue with your pedalboard.

If tweaking the FX Loop signal levels does not fix it, swap your FX Loop driver tube with a new one. (This sounds like a tube issue).

I'll try the jumper first. I DID try switching to loop 2 from loop 1 & had the same results. I hope to get at it tomorrow, if not Thursday...

V5 is the FX Loop driver/buffer for both loops. If the tube is bad, it will effect both loops.

If the jumper yields the same results I would change the V5 tube. You should have spares on hand anyway.......

I didn't have much time, but I DID try the jumper & it sounded fine, so it IS in the effects chain. Now all I have to do is find it! Gawd, when it's right, ****, that amp is sounding great!
