First of all Hello to everybody since I'm new to this community!

I recently became a Mesa user because I've bought an used Road King 1 that I really like a lot and I'm going to use it for some recording sessions.

Since the previous owner have never changed the tubes I would like to completely retube the amp so I need some suggestions from you guys..

I've found a quartet of Mesa 6L6GC Grey code (the old ones are Grey code too), so here's the first question : have the two EL34's to be Grey code too?

Regarding the two 5U4GB, have to be Mesa or also the Electro Harmonix are OK?

Thanks!

Foster

The power tubes need to be matched as pairs, so you can run a different colour code on the EL34 pair with no problems.

If the rectifier tubes work there's not much point in changing them, although its always a good idea to have spares. Any 5U4G will work. I've read that JJ rectifier tubes have been unreliable recently, so maybe avoid that brand.
