Anyone who says they can't get enough gain out Channel 2 needs to read this.
I'm stoked on finally discovering a really good crunch plexi-type sound on my Road King II combo. Man did it take a while for me but alas - it's here. I had been messing with the rectifier channels (3 and 4) for so long and though sometimes felt I was close, was never quite where I wanted it to be. It finally came after some searching on this board and of course, tweaking the hell out of the thing. Thanks to those on the board posting about this in the past.

I had tried this channel many times in the past but couldn't quite get what I wanted. The secret to this for me was cranking BOTH the gain and the master vol for the channel. Like gain at 4 or 5:00. I know the manual has various comments that discourage cranking the gain as it makes the rest of the eq string have less impact. While it does this, man does it open this channel up, especially when you bring up the master channel volume. (noon or more) It almost turns into an old plexi where you dime all eq controls and turn the presence almost off. That's pretty much how I have it set. Even at bedroom levels the thing sings and drips with gain. Very responsive to touch, good dynamics, cleans up perfectly when rolling your guit volume down. It is my main dirty sound on this amp now. I use the rectifier channels for lead and for a heavy scooped mid rythym sound for certain tunes. The only downside to this setting is that it is very loud compared to the other channels. I have to compromise a bit by turning the channel master down a little to get a better level match, especially with the channel 1 set to clean. (4 6l6s) But it still sounds good.
Just wanted to share the joy.
