hey hey,
This is my first post here. I have been lurking for a while as I was in the process of buying a mesa boogie, allot of helpful info laying around :) I decided to go with a road King II. I was very impressed with the endless features and tweaks. Im a long standing marshall/peavey player, mainly marshall for my rythm and my 6505+ for lead work and heavy riffing. I was never too impressed with boogie until I seen my friend showcase a mark iv and was blown away, thou the mark iv didnt seem to suit my need as of right now. Long story short I spent allot of time tweaking with a RK and was very happy with some of the tones I was able to achieve. I found the easiest channel for me to dial in was channel 3 vintage mode, great for rythm work. No enough can be said about the cleans. I am however having trouble dialing in a good tone on channel 2 brit mode, very thin and trebly. I just wanted to say hello!

I've been playing around more with the Brit channel lately, adding more Treble to increase the gain then offsetting the highs a little with the presence right down.

need to try it at gig level really

Welcome anyhow

Crank the gain and treble on the Brit mode in channel 2, then fiddle around with the rest of the settings. You'll end up getting a fatter sounding Vintage Modern type of tone...

Hello and welcome :D Lets see if I can help you out. These are my current setting for Brit mode. I usually boost it, but at the moment I'm digging it without.

Gain: 5:00 (Max)
Treble: 1:30
Mid: 5:00 (Max)
Bass: 3:00
Pres: 7:00 (Off)

Seriously, you should back off the gain, and dump more gain by cranking the treble instead. It will sound better... 8)

I tried that before and I didn't like the results... I will give it another try. Thanks :D

Ok, you win :). I got to fiddle with CH2 the other day. I still don't like the treble cranked, too bright, but I backed down the gain and upped the treble a bit.

New Settings...
Gain: 3:00
Treble: 3:00
Mid: 5:00 (Max)
Bass: 2:00
Pres: 7:00 (Off)

Wow, what are you using that's making the amp sound so bright? Granted, I use a Roadster with 6L6s, so maybe the brightness could possibly be you using EL34s???

Yeah, It's the EL 34's. If I play with the treble the brightness is tamed, It sound great 8). Past 3:00 and it gets too bright.

I was actually referring to the presence setting. It's basically off on yours...
