Was ordering some stuff from Ron Menelli @ RJM. He said his online store is up and running. Just grabbed some gear off of it. Thought some of you may be interested, as he seems to be plugged into what us Mesa users need.

ron makes top notch gear! i´m using the RG-16 since a year now an i´m more than happy with it.
perfect ampswitching + loop system, and the integrated buffer brings back all the dynamic and topend to the sound while using long cables.

Agreed. RJM Music Technology makes outstanding gear that works great with Mesa/Boogie, and really everything else we try to throw at it in my band.
:)

+1 !!!!!!!
I would also like to add that the support is fantastic! I got a Mastermind http://www.rjmmusic.com/mastermind.php and had a tiny issue with it working with my Triaxis. I called and he got on the phone himself to help. He was polite and even made casual conversation with me about Boogie products. The issue turned out to be user error  but talking to him made me want to get more gear from him.

I get the concept but I can't seem to figure out how it works.
Say I want to control my mark iii and rockmaster preamp, what should I get and how would I go about running the cables to control it all?

You need the Amp Gizmo or RG-16 to control the functions and channel switching of your amps, preamps, etc. The Mastermind is a basic MIDI foot controller that is made to pair beautifully with the switching and looping products in the RJM line.

The Master Mind simply selects presets that you've saved in the switching system, and it connects to your gear with custom cables (from RJM) to control your gear.

So, Midi controller > Amp Gizemo > Custom cables > Amp and effects

Correct?

Yes, mostly. Note that amp gizmo will control one amp or preamp. Your gear is a tricky situation.

The gizmo would easily control your Mark III. I don't know enough about the Peavey Rockmaster -- does it have 1/4" switch jacks? MIDI input?

Do you need to control both devices at the same time -- i.e. is the Peavey used as a preamp going into your Mark III? And if so, do you do channel switching in it, or is it just a single channel preamp that could be inserted like an FX pedal? You might want to call RJM to talk about your specific need with that item.

Here's an in-depth review of the RG-16 to get an understanding of how this product works. The Amp Gizmo is basically just the switching portion of the RG-16 without the audio FX loops.

I don't know how your Rockmaster preamp is controlled, but the Mark III will take a a fan out cable with 1/4"s for control. You do this with a Gizmo. You can control a second amp, but it will switch along with the Mark III. I have a Mark III set up for Gizmo control, as well as a Mark IV and Mark V. Works flawlessly. I also have the RG16. It has inputs for 2 amp controller cables, but they also will switch together. One could always run two Gizmo's controlled from one Mastermind.

If you know exactly how you want something set up for control, Ron can probably work up something custom for you.

Oh, the Mark III can be controlled with 1/4" cables on both ends as well from the Gizmo or 16.

use a RG-16 unit!
you can switch two amps independent from each other by using the loops 5-8 as normal relaisswitching outlets for amp one and the amp-switching outlet for the second amp.

the only thing you have to check is, how to wire the switching for both amps. check rjmmusic.com for a switching cable for the rockmaster. the remote jack seems to be a bit complicated.
best way to make sure it will work is to contact Ron via the rjm site.

Duh -- can't believe I forgot about that solution -- using some of the loops on the RG-16 to control amp #2, and the custom cable to control the Mark III. This will work very easily, actually.

SO... one RG-16, one Master Mind controller. Two amps. Bliss.

holy ****, the RG16 seems a bit overkill for me.
Could I get away with just the Amp Gizmo + Mastermind?
I just need these features on the 2 amps:
Channel 1,2,3,EQ in out on the mark III,
Chanels 1,2,3 on the rockmaster,
And 1 rackmount multifx.

Nope. The amp gizmo just controls one amp; not two. The RG-16 is just as simple to use and you can alsouse it for running some analog pedal loops if you want, too.
Seriously, if you read my review at musicplayers.com you'll get a great feel for how easy it is to use this gear. RJM take all the complexity out of rack gear. :)

I know,it looks extremely versatile, and from the demo diagrams they don't seem too complicated, but I mean the price is a little overkill for my needs. I'm just a bedroom player right now, lol.

Hmmm... well then... unless it's a huge bedroom you could just get up and manually switch channels on the amp :p. Just joking. Seriously, if you want remote control of two amps that don't have on-board MIDI control, you can't do that cheaply. Maybe for now you just go with remote control of a single amp and use the Gizmo.

Lmao, it's HUGE.
But yeah, it seems the price tag, scary as it seems, is probably justified (or just inevitable).
I'll have to wait till I have enough gigs to justify spending a grand on switching to myself.

well whenever you need help justifying a big gear purchase, you've come to the right place. we'll support you. not financially, of course, but emotionally :p.
