Hi Guys,

Having finally sorted myself with an amp, I've decided to start playing with it.

Basically I want to remove swap out some of the 12AX7 and replace them with lower gain valves (AT, AU, AV, etc).

As I understand it the current valves perform the following tasks,

V1 - Input on both Rhythm and Lead channels
V2 - Lead pre and post gain
V3 - a/ Pre tone control, b/ FX loop return
V4 - Rhythm post gain and tone
V5 - a/ Pre Reverb, b/ Post Reverb
V6 - Phase Inverter

I'm not too bothered about make of valves atm (although I'm obviously open to suggestions) more interested in the model of valve I should be looking to be putting into each of these positions. I'm looking to keep the rhythm channel sounding fairly similar, however would like to significantly reduce the gain on the lead channel. My current thinking stands at

V1 - 12AT7 or possibly keeping the AX there
V2 - 12AT7 or maybe even an AY
V3 - 12AX7
V4 - 12AX7
V5 - 12AX7
V6 - 12AX7

Thanks Guys,

Tim
