Its not a huge deal but I was wonderig if anyone might know about the topic.
I have an MXR EQ hooked up to the Mesa in the FX loop and I really love the thing. However, I turned either the mix or the send level up and it got even nastier distortion that really sounds great. The only problem is a humming noise thats a bit annoying. I can sometimes hear a radio station through the speakers. LOL

I'm guessing it could be the cables? Can or should I run my noise gate in the fx loop with the MXR? Not sure if that would work at all or not? Although it does have a send and return jack on it. Or just purchase new cables?

You are running an high gain amp that has probably a heavy settings. You put an EQ in a loop that is noisy. It is normal that a noisy sound occurs.

No matter the cable you get, you will always get a noise.

You have two choices:

-You can run the EQ in front of the amp( guitar---->EQ------->MESA!)
this will reduce the noise caused by the fact that you run a FX Loop
( you also remove one cable from the chain, the less cable, the better!)

or

-As you asked, you can run a noise gate in your loop ( after the EQ) so that you would definitely cut the noise ( you would also cut the noise that your amp produce, EQ or not.
