Hi,

I wonder if someone could help me / advise, especially if you have encountered a similar issue on a mesa boogie amp.

I have purchased a Recto-Verb 25 watt combo.

I have an issue with the Reverb knob on channel 1 (clean channel, the one I use reverb for)

When I play at medium volumes or higher, the vibrations of the amp turn the reverb knob back down to zero.

This doesn't happen on for the drive channel reverb knob, which stays in place.

So, my reverb keep switching itself off (progressively)

I can feel the channel 1 reverb knob turns a little more easily (with less resistance) than the one for the drive channel.

The knob itself is not loose. it is screwed tightly on its pot.

it seems to be the entire pot that is a little weaker and slides down with vibrations.

What do you suggest I do?

(I can't send the amp away for repair, I need it right now, so need a way to fix it at my end if at all possible)

Help / advice greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Vinny

Maybe you could remove the knob, slip an o-ring over the shaft and reinstall the knob. The o-ring could provide friction between the knob and chassis.

Thank you guys.
I have removed the knob.

Will try the amp loud tomorrow, see if that helps..

I know nothing is impossible but what you describe sounds highly unlikely. Does the reverb disappear from the sound or does the knob just turn on its own. Im guessing the actual pot is not moving but the set screw for the knob is loose. Just turn your pot post all the way to the left, then turn the knob next to it all the way to the left for a guide. Put the knob back on and tighten it properly.

Well, I'm not that silly..

I first noticed the issue when I realised my sound was completely dry (my clean sound has a fair bit of reverb).

I saw the reverb was on zero.

So, I turn the knob back up again, we play a couple of songs, sound becomes dry again, I have a look behind the amp and the knob is back down to zero.

I did that about 10 times through the entire rehearsal (about 3 hours)

The knob itself is tightly screwed on (i checked too)

So, yes, reverb levels go down to zero

how does the feel of the reverb knob compare to all the others. First ive heard about, but sounds like you need to contact mesa for a faulty pot :(
