First and foremost I am new to the board. I just got a rectoverb 2 in a trade. It is the head version of the amp. It works great but the reverb is not working. the cables are plugged in for the tank but still nothing is happening with it. This is my first mesa amp. I have been playing a recto 212 cab for years with a 5150 but finally ditched the 5150. I am super happy with the amp and its versatility but would like to be able to utilize the reverb on the amp. I am fairly electronically inclined as I have done a number of mods and fixed electronics for years. I saw something in another thread about an FET being bad in regards to the tank not working. Where is a good starting point to trouble shooting? Tons of thanks ahead of time!

Unless you are dead set on fixing it just to make the amp "right", I wouldn't bother. The reverb is pretty lame on the Series 2 RV.

There is a tube involved in the built in reverb - perhaps you could try replacing that tube.

What I do is run a Hold Grail Nano in the effects loop - works and sounds great.

Good luck!

I do not see a tube for reverb in the schematic, or any reference to that in the manual's tube task chart. According to the schematic the reverb is OPAMP driven, and switched in/out with a J-FET.

I hope this helps.

Explains why the reverb sounds like ****. Anything below 9:00 isn't too bad for a little color. I wonder if there would be some way to convert it to a tube driven reverb, without getting crazy?

Monsta-Tone?

OP, It is possible the OPAMP or the FET has failed, but I would be more inclined to believe it's an issue with the reverb tank.

Stupid question, but you have swapped the RCA cables to no effect right? I have heard of failed reverb tanks with Mesa amps. They tend to see more road use than other brands, and enough bangs, and bops, bad reverb tank.

Correct, the Reverb is not driven by any of the tube stages.
