do you mean for recording, or for using it as part of a live rig? do you mean beefier in terms of more low end?

If you have an EQ, try sticking it in the fx loop, cut the top and boost the bottom, start about 60-40 dry/wet and tweak from there. you might find some of what you're looking for. I did the reverse of this looking for a way to get more "sparkle" on some cleans and was pleasantly surprised.

I'd suggest getting in touch with Mesa directly, they may have thought of this already and have suggestions! (One of those will probably be to buy a 2:100 :?)

I haven't heard of any RP mods but I haven't looked. I've been happy with mine so far, but I don't get much heavier than, like, Isis. If I was trying to do heavier stuff I would probably be looking for a bit more chunk, too.

   I like that. You may as well have said; but I don't get heavier than one of the heaviest bands around.

Isis were SO heavy live. It was awesome.

And yes, I'm another Recto Pre user. 8)

Isis are one of those bands that are still going to sound great in forty years.
Totally. A sign of a bloody good band!

Ok, now back on topic

If there are any mods, do post what you find. I guess tubes are a subtle form of a mod. Any suggestions there?
