hello.
i've got a problem with the recto recording pre, in channel2 recording mode the sound gets very thin, buzzy, extremely compressed and quieter when the master is set beyond 2:30 or so, is that normal, have you made similar experiences?
please tell me my pre is not fu***ed up!

thanks

Turn down the master. If it sounds fine, then there's no problem with it. You're probably just overdriving the **** out of the tube that drives the recording outs.

thought that, too, but why isn't it mentioned in the manual then? it sounds worse than below 9:00 and that point is even marked on the pre.

but anyway, thanks for your reply

I donno why they wouldn't mention it, but I can see why they'd have a hard time marking it since the point where it distorts like that would vary depending on your gain and channel master levels. It's also possible that the volume you have it turned upto is distorting the input on whatever you have the amp plugged into, which is mentioned in the manual.
