is there any tonal differences between a mesa 4x12 recto cab slant and straight. i understand the somewhat upward projection with the slant but is there any advantaged between the 2. i'm considering purchasing one and i was looking for some pros and cons....

Some people say the Straight has more bass, but they never say why. The best argument I've heard as for the apparent increase in bass is that there's more space inside for the waves to develop, whereas in a Slant you are cutting off a piece of the top.

I have a Slant and I think it sounds fine. I love being able to hear the notes being pointed at me.

The only difference I could ever tell between slant and straight cabs, is you can hear yourself better with a slant cab. I've recorded both and usually mic the bottom right speaker, and it's always come out the same regardless of slant or straight cab, that is with the matching cabs.
