Rectifier Wierdness

I recently bought an NOS Tung Sol rectifier for my LSS. Unlike with the original rectifier, I find that when I first switch to the 15W or 5W power setting, the sound dies out and takes a while to come back, as if the rectifier has to warm up.

I put the original rectifier tube back in, and it acted as expected until a couple of weeks ago when it went out, taking a fuse with it.

Has anyone else come across something like this?

I replaced mine with an NOS RCA and don't have that situation. It must be something with that tube.

That's what I'm hoping.

It's very strange. If I switch standby on, it produces sound for half a second, then dies out, then comes back after 30 seconds or so.
